New
York State 47 Hour Firearms Course
- Required
Certification for Armed Guard Licensing |
|
Guards who carry
firearms are required to complete a 47 Hour
Firearms course before they can be licensed
as an armed security guard.
This course includes seven hours of
classroom instruction in the Use of Force (NYS
Penal Law Art. 35) followed by a written
examination, and 40 hours on the firing
range followed by weapons qualification.
Upon successful completion of this course
the guard is issued a training certificate.

Oleoresin Capsicum
(OC) - Pepper Spray Certification Course |
| The student will acquire a general
working knowledge of Oleoresin Capsicum (OC)
Aerosol Projectors, both technically and
tactically, providing them with the skills
necessary to carry and use on duty.
Prerequisites: All students must be a sworn
law enforcement or correctional officer,
federal agent, a state licensed security
officer, or active military personnel. These
courses are not available to civilian or
private personnel. Each attendee must be
physically fit for duty and able to perform
the physical skills associated with tactical
applications with the use of Oleoresin
Capsicum.
